"No more blind dates!" Jessica groaned, helping herself to a glass of orange juice. "Thank you very much."

She sat down at the table and looked skeptically at the pile of envelopes as Prince Albert put his head on her knee and looked up at her adoringly. Her first attempt had been a certifiable disaster, and she didn't feel like taking that kind of risk again. But on the other hand, she did have that contest with Lila. She couldn't back out of it, and she sure wouldn't win with a tub of lard like Paolo!

"I guess I'd better check these out," she muttered.

Wrinkling her nose with disgust, Jessica tore open the letter at the top of the pile. A photograph fell out, and she picked it up.

The picture was a Polaroid close-up, like a passport picture. And the face was the kind she'd love to get close to! The boy was deeply tanned, with warm brown eyes and thick, wavy blond hair. In a word he was gorgeous. At once Jessica began to read the letter:
