Chapter 15
Resurrection â Jerusalem â Terra
1917 BP
Atman: Get him on the table fast, Markus! Dordogne, are you picking up a pulse?
Dordogne: I am Professor. Heâs alive, but barely. He lost a lot of blood out there.
Atman: Alright, get an IV flowing in one arm and O-negative blood in the other. Markus, roll that grey machine with the small yellow screen over here.
Markus: Which one? This one?
Atman: Yes, that one. Clip the white wire to his finger and wrap this around his arm. I want to see his oxygen levels and a heartrate.
Markus: Holy shit, Doc, itâs reading 25 beats per minute. I donât think thatâs good.
Atman: No, that is not good. The Crackicide is likely keeping his heartrate lower than normal, but we need to get that up quickly. Whatâs his blood pressure?
Markus: It looks like it says 85/50 mm Hg.
Atman: Bullocks, get me the norepinephrine!
Markus: Heâs not going to for real die is he, Professor? I promised little buddy weâd throw the football and have a big party for him after all of this.
Atman: No Markus, weâre not going to let him die!
Beeeeeâ¦..
Dordogne: He just flatlined, Professor!
Atman: Fuck! Stand back, Iâm going to give him chest compressions!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6â¦.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6â¦.
Dordogne: The cardiopulmonary resuscitation isnât working. Heâs still flatlined and his oxygen levels are dropping fast.
Atman: Damnit! OK Dordogne, grab the defibrillator. Iâll try pulsing his heart.
Dordogne: But you just gave him epinephrine!
Atman: I know, but we donât have a choice, weâve got to restart his heart! Clear!
Beeeeeeeeeeeee, gachunk
Dordogne: Still no heartbeat. Hit him again, Julian!
Beeeeeeeeeeeee, gachunk

Dordogne: Heâs back, Professor!
Atman: Oh, thank God!

Atman: That was a close one. Way too close for my liking!

Markus: Yea, that scared the shit out of me. I felt like my stomach dropped out onto the floor when he flatlined just now!
Atman: It was terrifying for me too, Markus. Iâve come to love Jesus like my own son over the last few days.
Markus: He is going to be OK now though, right Professor Atman?
Atman: I believe so Markus, assuming he doesnât develop asystole from ventricular fibrillation again, which doesnât seem likely since his vital signs appear to be improving. As long as we can keep replenishing the fluids he lost and maintain his oxygen levels Iâm optimistic it will continue to trend that way.
Markus: Oh, thatâs great to hear, thanks Doc. I was really worried about little buddy for a second there!
Atman: We all were, Markus, but the worst is behind us now. He will require a lot of rest though. I understand now why we waited three days before officially resurrecting the poor guy. Thatâs quite an ordeal to recover from.
Markus: Seriously. I would need at least a couple weeks to recuperate before resurrecting to taunt my murderers. Jesus can have my room until heâs healthy again, and if youâre sure heâs stable, Iâll go get it set up for him. Iâm gonna cook a big pot of chicken dumpling soup for when he wakes up too.
