Cultivating resilience means developing most if not all of these traits. The more positively you view yourself, the more capable you will feel about overcoming challenges, believing in your ability to succeed despite setbacks, and the likelihood that you will choose the right people to be part of your close network of support. Noting Self-Criticism

Most people, myself included, can be their own harshest critics.

Think about it for yourself. When you’re wracked with self-doubt, how do you respond to your boss criticizing your work? When you don’t believe in your abilities to be alone, how likely are you to leave an unhealthy relationship? Do you forgive yourself when you make a mistake, congratulate yourself when you succeed, or accept yourself with your imperfections? Do you take good care of yourself?

I have lost count of the number of times I have heard people make these statements:

“I can’t believe I did that. I’m such an idiot.”

“I’m so stupid.”

“I’m never going to understand this.”

“I’m a failure.”

“Why can’t I ever learn?”
