“Xias—” Mina felt to him softly, awakening with a smile, feeling the back of his gentle fingers moving sweetly along her face and then through her hair. The two of them had been placed in a ceremonial hut within one of the specific jungle parks of the city. A tradition for awakening Zuruahã.

“The goddess awakens.” He lowered his lips to hers as both kissed briefly.

“How long?” she felt to him, her empathy mingling now with his own.

“Only a week.”

“Your eyes,” she reached up to his face. “They’re blue, like sapphires.”

He nodded. “Yours are fine gold.”

“What does it mean,” she touched his face.

“I wish I knew.”

He laid himself next to her on the reed mats of the hut, his hand smoothing over her tummy.

“We really are the prophecy,” she mused.

He nodded.

“Evil has come as well. I can feel him.”

“We cannot change what has been foretold, Mina. We knew the dark one would come.”

“He will turn against us.”

“Shhhh—” he quieted her fears. “We already know how it will end. The time of trial for our people will be soon.”

“Hold me.”

Xias took her into his arms, calming her trembling. “Ahhh, Mina; we must be strong. The prophecy must be fulfilled.”

“I know.”

He kissed her sweetly again, her awakened lips unbelievably enticing. Both embraced, their feelings entwined, their minds sharing thoughts while their bodies did what Nature and instinct compelled.
