11 Breona

After I had completed everything that I needed to do, I stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up a few things for the girls. Since I had the extra money from Corey, I thought why not. Arriving back at my apartment, I grabbed the things I bought for the girls and went inside.

As soon as I stepped in the house, I saw that it was as quiet as hell, and neither Corey nor the girls were anywhere to be found. Taking the bags I held in my hands back to my room, I sat them on the floor before leaving out. Corey was lying in the bed knocked out. I made my way over to the girls’ room, knocked on the door and walked inside. They were sitting on the floor, laughing, and talking. They always found a way to entertain themselves.

“Hey y’all,” I said, smiling as I stepped into their room.

“Hey, Bre, where have you been?” Tori asked, jumping up from the floor with our other two sisters right behind her.

They all ran over to me, wrapped their arms around me, and gave me a hug.

“I had some business to take care of,” I said.

“What kind of business?” Toya stepped back to evaluate me.

Toya always felt it was her duty to ask me a lot of questions as if she was my mother. Both she and Sabrina had that bad.

“I went to sign up for school and to interview for a job.”

“Did you get the job?” Sabrina asked. Her lips curled into a smile. You could see her dimples as they appeared in her cheeks.

I nodded my head happily in agreement. Working would allow me to get my sisters everything they needed and wanted.

“Good, so we should celebrate today,” Tori said, smiling as well.

“Yeah, but where are we going to go though?” Sabrina asked.

“I don't know. I think we can ask Mr. Corey. He knows a lot of places.” Toya shrugged.

“True, let’s ask him,” Sabrina said, shooting out of the room.

When she grew up, she needed to be on someone's track team. All four of us went into the room, followed by the three girls jumping on the bed to wake Corey up.

“Mr. Corey, now that our sister has a new job, we need to find a place where we can take her!” Sabrina jumped up and down on the bed as she squealed.

“Yeah, my sister needs to celebrate,” Tori said, joining in.

“Okay, we’ll take her somewhere,” Corey said, his voice groggy.

“Okay, good.” Tori smiled, giving him a hug.

I loved the fact that the girls actually liked Corey, and they were building something with him. They were a lot different from me.

“Yeah, now go and get dressed.” He shooed them out of the room.

When the three of them left the room, I went over to the bags I had left by the door and picked them up. They needed to be put somewhere that the girls wouldn't see them.

“So, you got the job?” Corey asked, sitting upright in the middle of the bed.
