Chapter Nine

Rane woke while darkness still held the world in its grip. The men were sprawled out on either side of her. The way her body felt right now made her wonder if she would be able to walk again. She crawled over Lion’s hips and ran her hand fondly over the smooth cheeks of his ass. Goddess, the ones that made these men were perfectionists.

Standing by the bed took a few seconds as she held onto the post of the bed to steady her legs before visiting the necessary. Something felt strange while she tried to walk in a straight line but felt graceless as she lurched her way across the room. The feeling was scary. What had caused this disoriented feeling? She wondered if it was from what they had done together and if the men felt like she did.

Lion watched his mated wife stagger and stumble across the floor to come back to bed. She was taller. If he had to estimate, he figured she had grown probably four inches taller. Her voluptuous body was still wide in the hips, with breasts that were more than a handful, for which he was thankful.

She would have to learn to walk again with any assurance. Until that time he would be happy to carry her anywhere she might want to go. He was ready to pull off his cover when Nord got out of bed and went to her. He picked her up and sat with her on the bench at the foot of the bed.

“So many new things for you to accustom yourself to. The mating gave you added height so your body could accommodate Lion and I when we make love to our wife. That is one of the changes that will give you problems at times until you are used to it. You will also know when we are near or in need. Just as we will know when you are in need or near. While I have not heard of it before, you might even be lucky enough to enjoy changing from your human form into one of our animals. I am sure it would take more than one blooding for that to happen.

“Lion and I spoke briefly with one of the historians of Tremble Isle last evening. He told us that your body could again change if you carry a large babe or two. So you see, lovie, we will have many years to love you, and for you to play at bossing us around. However, the next time you allow yourself to be put in danger as you did back at Droildorf Hall when the soldiers came, I will paddle your sweet little ass, and you will not sit for a week.

“Let me settle you on the bed with Lion, and I will fetch some warm water to clean you up and make you more comfortable.”

Lion sat up in the bed and took her onto his lap, covering her longer legs and cuddling her close.
