RAIN

“So that’s how we’re doing it? You get your little contract and you just run out and show up when you want to.” Diamond sat on the edge of my desk grinning at me.

“See, there you go,” I said and laughed.

“I’m just saying boo; you were supposed to be here an hour ago.” Diamond looked down at her watch and then back at me.

“Whatever, I had to go with Theory to see his lawyer.”

“Oh Lord, get your stuff so we can go. You can tell me all about it on the way to meet Jax.”

“Who’s Jax?” I asked lifting my camera bag off the floor and then following Diamond out of my office.

“You’ll see when we get there. He’s a new artist on Loyalty and this nigga is… oh Lord, I don’t even have words.”

Diamond fanned herself dramatically which made me laugh. “Um, do I need to tell we need a new assignment. I don’t think Frank would appreciate you lusting over whoever this Jax is.”

“Girl please, my damn eyes work and so do his. I don’t want that nigga, but it don’t mean he’s not worth looking at. Frank don’t need to know a damn thing,” Diamond said rolling her eyes.

“But you worried about it though,” I said from behind her.

“Shut up Rain, ain't no body worried about Frank,” Diamond said over her shoulder but I could see the smile. Yeah, she was feeling him. That was cool though. I like Frank.

Once we were in Diamond’s car headed across town, I began filling her in on what went down with me, Alex, Jamel and Theory. She couldn’t stop laughing at the whole thing.

“So you just hauled off and smacked the shit out of her? Damn, I hate I missed that. I knew your ass could get it in.”

“I didn’t fight the hoe, I just smacked her.”

“But she didn’t try to hit your ass back, so you must have smacked some sense into her ass. She knew better. And then her dumb ass had the nerve to ask Theory to defend her. What the fuck? I gave that hoe too much credit.”

“You’re stupid, but you're right though. My damn hand was sore as hell after that. Shit, it still hurts now.” I held it up and started examining it.

“And then Theory beat Mel’s ass. Damn Rain, you should have called me,” Diamond said looking at me serious as hell.

“How the hell was I supposed to do that?”

“You could have been like hold on Thee, don’t hit that nigga until Diamond gets here. I know she would love to see this.”

I couldn't control my laugh. “You are insane.”

Diamond laughed with me. The rest of the ride, we joked about what happened and she filled me in on how Destiny had recently started stalking her, blowing up her phone and acting crazy. She was thinking about getting a restraining order, but was trying to give it time to see if things died down. When we reached Loyalty Records, we grabbed our stuff, got out and made our way up to their suite.
