is that a banana in your pants? pops
There’s nothing restrained about a bachelorette party, so the food shouldn’t be either. But this dessert perfectly combines clean eating and dirty minds. Serve with a round of coffee shots before you call the taxis for part two of the epic party night.
MAKES 10 SERVINGS
* * *
5 ripe but firm bananas
10 Popsicle sticks
One 12-ounce bag dark chocolate, chopped, or semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Almonds or walnuts, crushed (optional)
Dehydrated strawberries, raspberries, or pomegranate, finely crumbled (optional)
Shredded unsweetened coconut (optional)
Sea salt (optional)
Line a large baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
Cut the bananas in half and insert a Popsicle stick into the sliced end. Arrange the bananas on the baking sheet and freeze for 15 minutes.
Combine the chocolate with the oil and melt, either in the microwave on low or in the top of a double boiler (or in a heat-proof bowl set on top of a small pot of simmering water). Stir until smooth.
Dip the bananas into the chocolate until fully coated. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle with the decorative toppings of your choice. Place the bananas back on the baking sheet and freeze until the chocolate sets, about 30 minutes. Arrange on a pretty tray and serve immediately, or store in the freezer in an airtight container for up to a week.
FAVOR BAG: OH-SHIT KIT
Thank all your guests—and help them out with the morning after—with an assortment of hangover cures: Advil, Emergen-C, a little face mist, a bottle of water, under-eye cream, Pepto-Bismol, a small bottle of coconut water, protein bars, and mints. To make it meaningful, include a small, personalized gift that says, “I survived Bachelorette [insert the bride’s future last name].”
