Chapter 12

VISITATION IN PRAYER

Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit. —Job 10:12 KJV

Most of us know the story of Job and what he endured. When you read what Job stated in Job 10:12, you realize the depth of Job’s trust in the Lord. We all have our stories about the challenging experiences in our lives that we had to endure to completion. One of the most precious things that can happen to us in these hard times is the visitation of the Lord in our time of travail. Your relationship with the Almighty God proceeds to a new and a higher level when He comes in and grants you life when there is death all around you. He grants you favor when you have fallen out of favor. The Almighty will consistently protect us and bring us completely through hardship. He wants you whole, so He begins to reveal Himself to you as a way of healing you.

There are certain attributes of God Almighty that He wants to reveal to you. You might think you are going in to pray in the secret place, but He has other plans. He wants to visit with you and heal you. He wants to grant you life and favor through visitation. Let us look at what King David wrote. The Almighty God revealed His character to David. David therefore became aware that those who put their trust in Him are abundantly satisfied.

Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; O Lord, You preserve man and beast. How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house, and You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures. For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light. Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You, and Your righteousness to the upright in heart (Psalm 36:5-10).

Here, King David is expressing a time of visitation before the Ark, in the House of the Lord. He describes the Mercy Seat and the wings of the cherubim that cover the Ark. These portions of David’s writings show the benefits of having visitation with God in the secret place of His presence.

The Benefits of Visitation

Mercy

Your mercy-seat love is limitless, reaching higher than the highest heavens (Psalm 36:5 TPT).

When we pray, we should have an eager expectation that has God heard us. He is rich in mercy and will answer our prayers. It is always important to remember His mercy and His response to prayer is guaranteed when you approach God in prayer. As His Spirit engulfs us, revelation begins to come forth and we realize how wonderful He is. We long to know Him, and He longs to be known by us. God Almighty wants to have fellowship with us.
