I looked at the guys. I was scared. Why would that man want Lori dead? When Kash told me the FBI was sure those needles, razors, and pins were laced with fentanyl, I almost passed out. Just one poke, and she would have been dead. I told the others that a man broke into our home. Ryker and Leo didn’t know the story about Lori. It wasn’t something I would tell anyone besides the ones who already knew about it. So, I only said someone broke into our house, and Lori called Kash. When he pulled into the driveway, it scared the guy, and he ran off.

We flew to Oregon with Ryker and Leo. Ryker was having some problems getting around, his legs hadn’t healed, so Angel was setting him up for some physical therapy for a month. Leo would stay with him for a while until he felt better.

We were again in the air, flying home. I explained to my buddies what had happened with Lori and the box of needles, pins, razors, and herbs.

“What the fuck? A man from the tribe that saved her life now wants to kill her. We better find this freak fast.”

After Matt was finished venting, I continued telling them what had happened. “Kash said when he got to my house, our bedroom door had been kicked in, and Lori had crawled out the window and was perched on the roof's highest point. She told Kash she was getting ready to shimmy down the side of the house. Then, when Asher arrived, the box of herbs was on the front porch. They gave them to the FBI to analyze. The FBI said they thought the needles, pins, and razors were covered with fentanyl powder.”

“My God,” Angel said, this is crazy. “Where the hell did he get the fentanyl? I wonder if he put the same herbs in the box they used to save Lori. Do you know if Kash gave everything to the FBI?”

“Do you want to know what kind of herbs those were? Is that what you’re asking?”

“Yes.”

“He gave everything to the FBI.”

I watched Angel so I could see what he would do. He took out his phone. “Hello…”

I knew he was talking to Lori. I could tell by how he watched me, and then he handed the phone to me. “Hi, sweetheart.”

“Hey, I wanted to say goodnight. I’m at my mom’s house now, and I’m going to sleep for a couple of hours. Kash and Asher stayed and are in the front yard. I tried to get them to go home, but they ignored me.”

“Of course, they did. They are guarding you and Laney. Let them do it. If I were in that position, I would protect their family too. Goodnight, honey, I love you.”

“Goodnight, I love you.”

When I hung up the phone, I handed it back to Angel. “What are you doing? I don’t want any crazy voodoo happening to my wife.”

“What kind of crazy voodoo? Lori is one hundred percent cured.
