Sometimes you can be in a purely emotional state of mind, a totally logical state of mind, or in a third state of mind that integrates emotions and logic. These mind states are components of the mindfulness module of DBT as developed by Marsha Linehan. At different times all of us experience these distinct states of mind. Mindfulness in DBT requires awareness of these three different states of mind. A primary goal of DBT is to be in an integrated state of mind as often as possible.
