Nine

Shandra set the cup of tea in front of Adrina. She took a seat across from her at the kitchen table. Adrina came knocking on her door early as fuck, waking her and Jahlil up from their peaceful sleep. After a night of lovemaking, their asses were tired. Jahlil left to give them some privacy. When Adrina arrived, she was a mess, sobbing loudly. Shandra was worried out of her mind.

Shandra asked, “What is going on?”

Adrina wiped her eyes. “Roman and I are over for good. He said he couldn’t be with me after I let another nigga inside of me.”

It had been three days since Roman came home and found another man in the house he shared with Adrina.

Shandra frowned. “But you two were at odds. He left you, so what did he expect? You didn’t know he was coming back home.”

“I told him that, too. He said I moved on too fast, but I didn’t move on. I was only trying to find comfort. He was ignoring my calls and texts. What the hell else was I supposed to do? I didn’t want to mope over him. I was tired of doing that. But he really left me. He said the only communication we’d have will involve our daughter. I really lost him, Shan.” She broke down again, covering her face with her hands. Her shoulders shook as she released the agony she felt of losing her first love, the only man she’d ever love. How would she ever replace him? No man could measure up to Roman.

“I’m so sorry, hun. I don’t understand his reasons. Maybe it’s for the best. Y’all been doing this on-again, off-again relationship for years. It’s not healthy. Hell, it’s toxic. Maybe y’all need to find someone else to be with.”

Adrina shook her head. “No, I only want Roman. He’s my soulmate. I don’t think another man can replace him. He’ll come around. I’ll just have to give him time and not jump on another dick. I’ll have to visit the sex store. Roman is not there to take care of me, so I have to take care of myself.”

Shandra chuckled. “Don’t you go there enough?”

She burst out laughing, needing it. It was true. Adrina stayed in the sex store.

“Hush, girl. What the hell else am I supposed to do? I need some more toys. Damn, I hadn’t had Roman’s dick in so long. How the hell am I going to cope without it?” Adrina groaned.

“That is something I can’t answer. I know you’ll find a way to deal with it. He’ll probably go out and do the same thing you did just to get back at you.”

Adrina growled low in her throat. “I wish his ass would.”

“You did it.”

Adrina felt sick. She didn’t want to think about Roman having sex with someone else. Shandra was right; she did it. Roman didn’t have to do everything she did, though.

“No. I’m feeling sick. He wouldn’t. Now I see how it feels, and I don’t like it.
