The anger I tried to keep at bay around Rhian erupts as soon as I’m in my ride. Not only did D-Mark put his hands on my wife but he further disrespected her with his words. I don’t know what’s up with him but I’m about to find out. Between this and the fentanyl, he’s moving recklessly and signing a death warrant he doesn’t want me to execute. Brother or not, when it comes to my wife and the family business, there’s no compromise.

I hit his line before I pull off but he doesn’t answer. So I head to his crib. He lives in the Millennium condos, which are about twenty minutes from here. I’m fuming the entire ride.

When I pull up, I don’t see his Lambo in its usual spot but I enter the tower anyway and take the stairs up to his floor. I knock for a few minutes but there’s no answer. Aggravated, I storm down the stairs, calling him as I do. When he doesn’t answer again, I call Moon because it’s possible he’s spending time with Demari.

Moon’s words shock me. “He went to Tampa to handle some business. He told me you sent him. Oh God, what’s going on, Gee?” she asks in a panic.

“Nothing. I’ve been so busy with Rhian that I forgot. Chill, Moon, it’s all good. I’ll just hit his cell.”

I lie just to keep her calm because I’m far from calm. Who told him to go to Tampa? Our counterfeit bills connect, Que, is there but we just made a substantial order and pickup two months ago. The next pick up is in six weeks and I’m scheduled to go. The pickups occur at high stakes poker games which I attend with Amon; the games are the perfect cover.

My aggravation is at an all-time high, so I head to my parents’ before I blow up. I need to talk to Keyshon and Senior. My parents live in Chandler Heights too but our new home is still miles from theirs. It’s a big community.

When I pull into the driveway, Keyshon’s Rover and Tee’s Porsche are parked. My parents’ rides fill the four car garage. After parking behind Tee, I exit my ride then head in. Luckily, I catch Keyshon walking up the stairs.

“Let me holla at you before you go up,” I say and he turns and descends.

“What’s up?”

“Let’s go in the reading room.” I walk in first and he’s right behind me. Once he enters, I close the door. “I need to ask you something about the last pick up of pills.”

“Bruh, I swear I didn’t know about Cassick,” he replies.

Cassick is the last thing on my mind. He made good earlier today. Well, almost good. He brought Amon ten stacks and promised to pay the remaining five in a week. I’m really not pressed about the bread, it’s chump change. My issue with him was the disrespect. He thought it was sweet to steal from me and it wasn’t. His missing fingers are a constant reminder of that.
