Chapter Eleven

Chelsie

Enter!

She thought it but didn’t say it. Heart racing, she stared at the closed door. He knew she was there. Pretending she wasn’t would be foolish. Yet, she still sat there, silent, wishing he’d go away.

“Can I come in, Chels?” Roman asked from the other side of the door.

Hell no. Again, she thought it but didn’t say it. Just go away!

“Chels?”

The way he said her name sent a shiver racing down her spine. He and Alex were so different, yet, they were so much alike. They both had deep voices. But Alex’s voice was more demanding and brutish, while Roman’s was sultrier and more seductive.

Both were tall and built. When she’d first stepped into the house and seen them, she’d been slightly surprised at how handsome they’d become. Not that they’d been ugly when they were younger.

It was just that they’d grown taller and bigger. Bigger in more way than one. Yet, their dark eyes were still the same. The still stared at her like they hated her. Wait. That wasn’t hatred. Not in any shape or form. That was…

“Chels, I just want to give you something. That’s it.”

That was what she was afraid of. She was afraid he wanted to give her something.

“I’ll be quick.”

Nobody likes a minute man.

“Chels, let me in.”

I can’t. It’s not right. What you want isn’t right. It doesn’t matter that I’ve sometimes thought about it too. That doesn’t make it right. That makes it even worse.

“Chels, open the door.”

NO! It’s not right! Oh, wait, the door. He was talking about the door.

Chels sat up. To let him in or not to let him in, the door?

“Chels, I have somethings I need to tell you. And I’ll answer any questions you have. I swear.”

She did have a lot of questions. However, she didn’t think she should be alone with her broth… with her… Roman.

“I want to apologize for how Alex behaved earlier,” Rome called out.

He sounded sincere. Apology accepted. That didn’t mean she would forgive Alex.

“But, you were the one who started it.”

Apology no longer accepted. And she still wasn’t going to forgive Alex. How was she the one who started it? She wasn’t the one who dug up someone’s past and then took it upon herself to share it with others.

Alex did that. Alex and Roman. You know what, maybe she would let him in. Alex had already felt her wrath. Now it was time for Rome to feel it. Chels climbed out of bed and stalked over to the door. After unlocking it, she pulled it open.

“Look, Roman…”

He smiled down at her. Her words got lodged in her throat. She didn’t remember him being this damn tall. Had he been this tall the last time she saw him, which was twenty minutes ago?

Chels cleared her throat, “Roman, you…” Use your words, Chels. You’re not illiterate. “Um, Roman…”

“Yes, Chels?”

That deep voice. Chels swallowed. What had she been about to say? Damn it, why was she allowing him to affect her this way? “Roman, I…”

He stretched his hands out toward.
