CHAPTER 15

When Sienna got to the car, Adrianna was already there, bossing Brian around with the luggage. As soon as she saw her, her best friend came running and threw her arms around her. Part by part, Sienna’s body melted into the hug, her muscles slowly relaxing. She needed it more than she would ever be willing to admit.

“I missed you,” Adrianna told her.

“I missed you too,” Sienna admitted, believing in her heart that Adrianna wasn’t the traitor. She was sure that her friend wouldn’t betray her in a way that almost got her killed.

“I wish you didn’t need to go so soon. You just came back,” her friend whined and stamped her feet against the ground like a little kid.

Sienna laughed but it came out sounding more sad than joyful. “I know, but soon it will all be over.”

“I hope so,” Adrianna said, then looked over Sienna’s shoulder at approaching Jensen. “You be careful, okay? Both of you.”

“We will,” Sienna promised.

“Don’t worry, Ade. I’ll look after her,” Jensen said, then offered Sienna his arm to take her to the car.

Sienna’s brows furrowed at another one of his mood shifts, but she was too tired to argue with him, so she tucked her arm into his and walked with him to the car, but not before she gave Adrianna one final wave.

This time it was only her, Brian, and Jensen, because Jensen refused to take the plane, wanting to go with the car instead. The drive would last around six hours and Sienna couldn’t imagine anything worse than being stuck in a metal contraption with these two. More with Brian than Jensen, at the moment she didn’t mind the moody heir’s company.

“Where are we going?” Sienna asked, holding back the frustration of being the last to find things out.

“Boston, Massachusetts,” Jensen replied.

Sienna had to probe further when he didn’t elaborate. “Why? Who are we meeting? What’s our mission? Just give me the damn folder.”

Jensen raised his brow but didn’t say anything. He reached into his bag and pulled out a bunch of papers. After sorting through them, he handed her half of the pile.

“That should answer your questions,” he said, then asked Brian to put the music a bit louder, making it clear that he wasn’t in the mood to talk.

Sienna didn’t mind the music, and despite being tired, focused herself on the information in front of her. A part of her hoped that Brian slept better than she did but still made a mental note to ask the guys to stop for coffee after an hour or two.

They were on their way to Cambridge, quite close to Harvard University. The family in whose house they’d be staying was called Thorne. Sienna had never heard of them, nor did she have any recollection of them ever living in their city. After she continued reading, it made sense why they were sent to get them on their side.

Jack, the patriarch of the Thorne family was an internet security software tycoon. His wife Tessa was a professor at Harvard, teaching the subject of computer science.
