Sex was the best part of my training. By far.
However, the guardians refused to let that be the only part of my training. So we continued fighting and our regularly scheduled sessions with a sprinkling of sexy times worked in.
Despite all of my hard work, it was becoming obvious to me that the only time I unlocked any memories was when I was with one or more of the guardians. Specifically, when we were intimate. But then again, it wasnât as though those memories were doing anything to actually help us.
They were mostly about our other sexual escapades in past lives. Which, donât get me wrong, was highly entertaining but wasnât exactly helpful in getting what we needed.
I needed to remember my whole self, not just for my own safety and skills, but so I could figure out what I had done with the crystal. It was the key to every cycle. I needed the crystal to access any of my magical powers. As the keeper of it, I should be able to sense it, to know where it was located. But even after all of my training, I could no more tell the guardians where the crystal was than point them in the direction of Atlantis.
I tried really hard not to let my frustration show. I wanted to process my emotions properly, but it was getting to me that I couldnât help more. I felt like I could have taken down a mugger easily, but if one of those shadow monsters were to show up again, I donât know how useful my high kicks would be.
Apparently, though, my frustration did make an appearance. Oliver and I were in my work dojo, doing a few rounds after one of my classes had finished. It was with a group of green belts who were thrilled to meet Oliver. They thought he was hilarious and loved his blue hair. Some of the girls were convinced he was a K-Pop star, even though it was clear he was Australian.
Said frustration erupted from me when I barrelled through a series of hand combinations and punches. My limbs moved with lightning speed, and Oliver barely had enough time to block any of them. It wasnât until I clocked him square in the ear, hard enough to make him bleed, did Oliver call uncle.
He crossed to a nearby sink built into the wall and wet a paper towel to clean himself off. âJesus, Aurora, you know Iâm not the enemy here, right?â
âIâm so sorry, Ollie,â I apologized, my voice sounding weak to my own ears. âI shouldnât have hit you that hard.â
âDonât get me wrong,â he said jovially. âIâm hella impressed, but why the extra umph today? Did something get to you?â
âNo, Iâm fine,â I said as I crouched into a ready position. âLetâs go again.â
Oliver looked me up and down as he held the paper up to his ear. Then he shook his head. âI donât think thatâs a good idea.â
âWhat do you mean?â I balked.
