3.2.2 Design of High-Pass Filter

The ideal magnitude response of the High-pass filter is obtained by shifting the plot of the magnitude response of the ideal low-pass filter (refer Fig. 3.9b, say ) toward right by . This is obtained by replacing by in of the low-pass filter as follows.

where, and it satisfies . This can also be obtained by subtracting the impulse response of two low-pass filter (with cutoff frequency radians) and (with cutoff frequency radians). Hence the impulse response of the high-pass filter is given as the following.
