Killing Thomas ‘Tom’ Henry would be cathartic, but Abigail would undoubtedly disapprove. Some portion of Shiloh’s DNA came from that worthless sack of flesh, so maybe he had some worth once, but there was no reason for his existence anymore.

Finding his debt proved easy enough, and buying it off the original loan sharks was simple. Canceling the amount which fell upon Abigail’s shoulders in the divorce, I organized a note to be sent from the original company announcing the cancellation.

“You’re getting too involved,” Gianni warned.

Scoffing, I shook my head. “I’m taking care of business. First, Massimo. Then, Tom Henry.”

He shook his head, but as my men dragged Massimo into the warehouse, Gianni kept his distance. Massimo glared up at me.

“What? No call?” Massimo joked, spitting a glob of blood onto the cement.

“You know the rules, Massimo,” I reminded him. “What made you think you could get away with selling drugs in my house?”

He didn’t answer. Holding his head up high, he clenched his jaw shut. Which was fine. Nothing he said would make the situation better for him. I already knew the order came from the top. I had all the evidence I needed. However, he was an old friend. We’d worked together for twenty years without issue. If he was hurting for money, I would’ve helped him.

“Clean up,” I ordered, and a bullet went through Massimo’s head, sending him to the ground. Looking at Gianni, I sighed. “I want a meeting with everyone involved in this mess.”

“We’ve already taken care of the suppliers,” Gianni assured me.

Going from Massimo to Tom Henry was strange. Massimo was part of my organization. Abigail’s ex-husband existed outside, which made him precarious. Killing Massimo was a process. He lived outside the law, so the law would not come after him even if they could find his body.

Walking into the house where Abigail had lived once was bizarre. It was an absolute mess. Dishes piled in the sink. Everything stunk vaguely of burnt grease. Beneath the grim and stench, Abigail’s careful touch shone through. She had made a home for this man, and he had betrayed her. Disgusting.

As the door unlocked, I took a seat, waiting. When the door shut, the man startled at the sight of me.

“What the hell are you doing here?” he demanded, but his bravado failed when I stood. He cowered, pressing himself against the door.

“I have recently acquired your debts. Fifteen thousand four hundred and twelve dollars worth of it,” I informed him calmly. “You’ll find I can be a generous lender, but if you ever go near Abigail or Shiloh ever again, I will have you cut apart limb by limb, starting with the shortest.”

He paled, covering his worthless genitals as he blanched. With a smile, I approached, and he skittered about to edge around me.

Leaving him to piss himself, I returned home, smiling as Abigail made lasagna. A baby monitor sat upon the counter. She was a vision. In a loose shirt and leggings, she hummed softly, stepping back to rest a hand on her baby bump.
