Lake Blanche

You know those nature panoramas that look unreal even with no filter? You can take one of them at Lake Blanche (7 mi/11.3 km round-trip, 3-4 hours, 2,700 ft/823 m elevation gain, moderate). The combination of turquoise water, Sundial Peak towering right over the lake, and a bouquet of forest that lights up in autumn make this a very photogenic spot. The trail begins near Brighton Resort starting from the Mill B South Fork Trailhead. Follow signs for Lake Blanche. You’ll be hiking through aspen and conifer trees alongside a creek, passing the occasional waterfall. While there are a couple of other lakes at the top of this hike, Lake Blanche is the main attraction, and does require some steep hiking to get there. After you take your #nofilter picture and bask in the views, enjoy a little sunshine on one of the sloping rocks surrounding Lake Blanche. This is a great place to read a book or have a little picnic before embarking on the return trip.
