Chapter Sixteen
Pearl
The orgasm gripped me so hard that I was having trouble letting go. Wave after wave of intense pleasure spread from where Rylan and I were connected. I felt like I was locked in a pleasure loop with no end in sight.
After what felt like hours, my body relaxed, causing tears to gather in my eyes and slip down my cheeks. I had never experienced anything like that. It had consumed me. Mind, body, and soul. I didnât know where I started, and he ended. It was intense, so incredible that I was mildly frightened by it.
Something rubbed over my cheeks, whisking away the tears. I blinked open my eyes. It was a chore just to move that much. Rylanâs stormy-green eyes met mine, his eyebrows scrunched together in worry, but I could also see his satisfaction.
âHey,â he said softly, caressing my cheeks again. âAre you okay?â
âThat wasâ¦â I giggled, overcome by all that I had just experienced. âIt was incredible.â
The corner of Rylanâs lip rose as he smirked at me. The worry was gone, overshadowed by the smug look on his face. I returned his smile while I stretched out my legs, realizing we were no longer connected. I frowned, trying to remember when he pulled out and why.
âYou were crying,â Rylan said gently, like heâd plucked my question straight out of my head.
Wait a second.
âRylan?â I mentally pushed the question out toward him, hoping that it worked.
Rylan shook his head, looking like a wolf who had a bug buzzing around his ears.
âDid you hear that?â I asked, trying again with renewed concentration.
âYes and no.â Rylan shook his head again in irritation. âI can feel it more than hear it.â
âOh.â I frowned, disappointed.
Iâd heard that completing the mating would awaken abilities in both of us. Technically though, we werenât fully mated yet since we hadnât done everything that completing the bond required. I huffed, slightly annoyed that nothing new had come of it then immediately regretted the thought. We werenât doing this for the new abilities but because we loved each other. This was a commitment that I couldnât imagine having with anyone else.
âDonât worry. Itâll come in time.â Rylan shot me a teasing grin before running his hand down my thigh.
I sucked in a breath as awareness of where his touch registered. Heat poured into my belly, and I gasped. A spark appeared in his eyes as the color shifted to greener than gray.
My heart skipped a beat as his wolf pushed forward, needing a front row seat. Like it was an invitation, my own wolf appeared, excited to participate as well.
âMate.â
âMate.â
Our wolves greeted each other seriously, I chuckled inwardly. Wolves did not mince words or offer pleasantries. They were straight forward and brisk, something I envied about them.
âThis is not⦠my ideal form,â Rylanâs wolf began, his voice deeper than it had been a few seconds earlier. âRegardless, Iâm ready to make you mine.â
âPfft, typical.â My wolf huffed, surprising the hell out of me, and judging by the taken-aback look on Rylanâs face, he was as well.
