Brush the resist evenly and allow it to dry. For best results, apply a second coat and allow it to dry. Once it’s fully set, you can airbrush or sponge the dye onto the rest of the holder. It’s worth noting that, just as successive coats of dye can be applied to get darker tones, you can apply resist to other parts of the model so that they stop darkening with each coat. I chose to add resist to the areas between the gears after a coat of dye so that the gears darkened the most. (See Figure 6-29.)
