Back Again

Secret

I was shaking with anger the entire time I sat in the waiting room, waiting for the doctor to call Abuela to the back to discuss her recent lab results. I couldn’t believe B.K. had the audacity to try and check me about some dumb ass shit about Priest. If I was anywhere near him, I probably would’ve smacked the fuck out of him for trying me like that. B.K. and I had a few minor agreements here and there, but we had never got into an intense argument like that before. I couldn’t even front, I was pissed off, but I was even more hurt by the way B.K. tried to handle me. The old Secret probably would’ve folded and bawled my eyes out the second he raised his voice at me, but now, I wasn’t going for that shit. I’d rather die and burn in hell before I ever let a nigga talk to me crazy. That shit was dead.

But, I couldn’t think about B.K. right now. I needed to make sure Abuela’s health was good and that she’d agree to the treatments for her kidneys first. Then, I needed to get my own health checked out because ever since I’d been back in Chicago, I hadn’t been feeling like myself. I wasn’t sure if it had anything to do with me passing out at the graveyard, but something just wasn’t sitting well with me.

The last thing I wanted to do was tell anybody that I thought I saw Von at the cemetery, and that was the reason I passed out. I wasn’t trying to be committed into an insane asylum. Hell, I was contemplating whether I was crazy or not, but I knew that what I saw was real. Regardless of whether it was his spirit or not, I knew my eyes saw Von at that cemetery. Maybe that was the reason I felt so weird, because since Von had been dead, he’d never come to me before, not even in a dream. And when I saw him, I didn’t feel like I was looking at a ghost or anything. He looked alive and well, and I could feel how strong his presence was. I wasn’t sure what any of that meant, but I needed to know what the fuck was going.

While Abuela finished up her appointment, I walked outside to get some fresh air and call Priest to check on Cross. They were having a father-son day so I could give all my attention to Abuela’s stubborn ass. I didn’t even want to call his ass after that lil’ stunt he tried to pull on me last night. To be honest, I was more shocked than anything that the nigga even had the balls to push up on me like that, knowing that he was a married man. Even though Tabatha probably wasn’t who he really wanted, Priest wasn’t a cheater. If anything, I would say that he was too loyal, and he was a man of his word.
