The Script and Process

The process you are about to experience has been improved, revised, and refined since the late 1980s. As you will read in later chapters, we now have hundreds of case studies as well as clinical and academic research to validate the effectiveness of MER.

Personally and professionally, I have wanted to get as much information out to the public as I possibly can, because I believe everybody deserves to be free of their baggage. And as a Doctor of Psychology, I need to balance that with the idea that the most important person in the therapeutic equation is the client. The person who is receiving the release work needs to be cared for and nurtured the most.

Therefore, if you believe that your issue is greater than or deeper than something that can be handled by reading a book, we host live events; professionals who have been trained in MER are ready and willing to assist you. Also, if you believe that you want to learn to help people with their baggage, please realize a book is not sufficient to do any type of deep issue work.

There are many techniques that make up MER. I will be sharing two of them with you here in specific detail. The first one is called Negative Emotions 1. This technique is good for general anger, sadness, fear, hurt, guilt, and any other past-based negative emotion. It is not for trauma, nor do I use it for phobia and other major disorders. There are many other things that you would need to do when working on deeper issues, including a full MER Break Through Session, along with a Detailed Personal History.

The other technique I will share with you is the MER anxiety release, a very simple and easy technique that alleviates and releases anxiety. It is helpful to have released past-based fear when beginning to work with anxiety, and we will discuss that later.

Negative Emotions 1

To be able to release past-based negative emotions, you need to do two processes. First is the root cause elicitation, and second is the release of the negative emotions. Each negative emotion has a gestalt and a root cause, as we previously discussed. So each time you release a specific negative emotion, you elicit the root cause and then go into the actual release work. As I teach at our advanced MER trainings as well as in our introductory event called Empowering Your Life, this two-pronged approach needs to be done every single time you work on an emotion. The following is the root cause elicitation that you would use with each negative emotion that is rooted in the past.

Discovering Root Cause Script

Note: This section is done before the client is above the time line. It increases unconscious trust and cooperation.

1. Ask, Is it all right with your unconscious mind for you to release this emotion [or limiting belief] today and for you to be aware of it consciously?

2. Find the first event: What is the root cause of
