CRUSADERS—A Pisan fleet of 120 ships aids in siege of Jerusalem.35

FATIMIDS—The Egyptian fleet supports the army at Ascalon.36

1100

CRUSADERS—Part of the Pisan fleet of 1099 was still active. Fatimid naval preparations occurred in Egypt.37

1101

CRUSADERS—A Genoese fleet of eight galleys, eight gorabii in February;38 twenty-four galleys and four large ships arrive on 9 Sept.;39 Byzantines, twenty transports;40 some additional ships also remained from the Crusade of 1101.41 Total—over seventy in region.

FATIMIDS—Forty ships at siege of Jaffa, 8 Sept.42
