Three shoes were found around a window frame at Eastgate, near Stanhope, Co. Durham. Reported in July 2008.

At Crawley Peel Tower, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, three shoes were discovered in the walls. Two of these belonged to adults and the third was a child’s shoe.

A dried cat was discovered at Alderman Fenwick’s House, 98 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne beneath the fireplace slab. It was thrown away by the building contractors and was not included in the report in Archaeologia Aeliana, 1997. It seems that a concealed shoe was also found at this house at the same time.

The Wallsend News Guardian reported that a dried cat had been found in a cavity at Wallsend Police Station, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

In 1985 a dried cat was found under the floor of a Victorian house in North Shields which was being renovated. The animal was discovered by a homeless person who tried to exchange it for beer at the Dolphin Inn. It is now in the Hancock Museum. From Pennick 1995.
