“Nadia, I don't know how I feel about you having dinner with yo baby daddy and his folks on Thanksgiving,” Kenzo expressed as he watched Nadia put groceries in the buggy. “I think it’s cool that y’all get along and everything for the sake of y’all kid. I just feel like it’s something else going on between y’all.”

“Kenzo.” She sucked her teeth. “For the tenth time, there is nothing going on between me and my baby daddy. Aight? He invited me to dinner after I told him that I wasn’t doing shit but staying in the house. This is the first time he has ever invited me to any of his family gatherings and I’d rather be there than to be in the house by myself.” Nadia glared at him, pushing the buggy down the aisle.

“I already explained to you why I didn't invite you to my folks’ crib for dinner. I didn't tell my mom that I was fucking with you again and we’re still working things out between us, Na.” He followed behind her. “I wanna believe that things are gonna be different between us but just in case things doesn’t work out--”

“You don't wanna be embarrassed like you were the last time,” she finished his sentence. “I get it, Kenzo. I get it.”

“I wasn't gonna say that, Nadia.” He sighed.

“But that’s how you feel and honestly, I don't blame you.” She turned around to face him. “I know that you’re taking a chance by fucking with me again, Kenzo. I did some horrible things to you while we were together and I apologize for all of it. I understand that it’s gonna take some time for us to get to the point where we trust each other again but I don't want you to be with me because you feel sorry for me. If that’s the case, we need to stop right now.”

“You think that’s why I’m tryna get back with you? Because I feel sorry for you, shawty?”

Her eyes shifted to the floor.

“I ain’t gonna lie. The reason I found you was because I wanted you to get revenge on London, but after being around you again and talking to you, I see the change in you. I coulda stepped off once you talked to London and she found out about us but I’m still here. Why? Because I like what I see and how you’ve changed. You’re not the same money hungry ho that you once were. You’re turning into a woman. A respectable one at that and I love how you take care of your son. You’re sexier to me now than you were back then. I’m not just attracted to yo body no more. I’m attracted to all of you and I’m not tryna give you up,” Kenzo admitted.

“You mean that?” she asked while blushing.

“Hell yeah, shawty.”

Staring into her eyes, Kenzo didn't hesitate to kiss her lips, confirming that his words were true. He didn't care that there were other people in the aisle that were staring at them.
