Chapter 25
"Seven days"
Seven days. I needed that.
Seven days. To realize.
In seven days, I went mad.
And seven more to analyze.
In seven days, I faced myself.
In seven days my POV was turned.
And then the truth it proved itself.
And watched as my world burned.
Next, I knew that I was done.
Because I would wait even seven weeks.
And seven months I'll lack a sun.
Iâll wait for love - both lows and peeks.
Chapter 26
During the seven days, in which I haven't seen Damon, time seemed to go slower, as if the seconds were minutes and the minutes were hours, and days seemed like an eternity.
The first day was the worst. After the conversation with Jessica, the day passed slowly. I unpacked my baggage and ordered it in a small chest Jess let me use. I was barely containing my tears as they welled up, on the brink of falling down my face.
I didnât know how long I was going to stay at Jessâs apartment, because I still had not received a call about mine, and I didnât know if I could return to it.
The next day was just as bad. It was Sunday, and I spent all of the day in bed crying, for various reasons. That was the day that I realized a week had passed since the incident in the laboratory, and not months, as the time looked in my brain. That was the day in which I remembered that I had a job, and by a very lucky coincidence, the laboratory hadnât been open for the whole week, and the following Monday was going to be the day in which everyone returned. Or at least everyone who survived.
That Monday was a disaster. The minute I entered the building, a sense of grief engulfed me and didnât set me free until I had left at the end of the day. The worst thing was that Jessâs department was a night shift, so that meant we couldnât see each other. I was waking up at seven a.m., and going home around four p.m., and by the time I returned, she had already left for her shift. When she returned, around eleven thirty p.m., I was already too dead to go anywhere, and most of the time, already half-asleep.
On Wednesday an unknown number called me, and announced that I could return to my apartment, and while I was going to miss spending some time with my best friend, I really didnât want to bother her anymore. So, I packed my things after work and returned to what had been my home.
When I stepped inside it, my guts froze, and the scenes of Stefanoâs betrayal played on a loop in front of my eyes. I dropped my bags near the exit and went for a walk around the block. When I returned, the situation was slightly better, but still, a bitter taste filled my mouth.
Credit to the investigators, they had cleaned the apartment perfectly, and there werenât any traces of the crime scene. No blood, skin, or
