Feels So Good

When I tell people that I discovered my natural father was a Mangione with Sicilian roots, they ask, “Any relation to Chuck?”

I don’t know . . . it’s a small island, and there is a chance we’re distantly related. My ancestors were from Termini Imerese and emigrated to New York City, and musician Chuck Mangione’s ancestors were from Agrigento and emigrated to Rochester, New York. If we are cousins, we’re more distant than third cousins, as I was only able to build his tree backward a few generations with information I found online.

If you know Chuck, please encourage him to take an AncestryDNA test, as most of my Mangione DNA relatives are in this DNA pool. Better yet, ask him to call me! I’d love to meet him, and I still love his (1977) hit song, “Feels So Good.”

After discovering who my biological father was, I visited Aunt Mene, who surprised me by playing that song (she had the CD) in celebration of the end of my search. Living in the know feels so good!
