Chapter Seven

“You’re almost done, Baby girl,” Cristian cooed as he stroked her forehead, leaning close to her ear. “You did so well. The hard part is over. I’m sure you didn’t eat anything before I picked you up this morning. The doctor will get a diaper on you, and then I’ll feed you a bottle. How does that sound?”

Ludicrous. But she didn’t say so. She just blinked at him.

“The bottles will clean out anything unnatural lingering in your body. You’ll be fed on a strict schedule. I warned the staff here that you have a tendency to bite your nails, so they’ll help you break that habit with baby mittens. You can use a pacifier to self-soothe instead.”

Lily stared at the woman who said that so casually.
