Chapter Ten
Farrah
After I called Kyandri about having me and his daughter living in a hotel, he finally gave in and got us a nice four bedroom, six bathroom home equipped with all the amenities anybody could dream of. It wasnât far from his motherâs house and still close enough to his. All the Richmondâs stayed in close proximity of each other. Their homes were like a town all on its own. With the exception of their condos, they mostly stayed on the estate. I was livid when I found out that Denver stayed close, too. Oh well, she would just have an up close and personal seat to watch me get my husband back. I knew how this family felt about children so she could kiss whatever future she thought she had with him goodbye.
Weâve been settled into our new house for a few weeks, and I was getting antsy. I knew Terrell would be calling to check in soon and I didnât need Kyandri to find out that I have had some kind of contact with him. He hasnât talked to Dria since I brought her here, so I know heâll be calling to check on her soon. He knows sheâs not his, but he has been the only active father in her life, and she loves him. Kyandria was with Syrena, so I was going to go out and hit the streets to get reacquainted with the city. After the DNA test proved that she was Kyandriâs, we explained to her that Kyandri was her real father and Terrell was her stepfather. She understood and said that some kids at school had step daddies. She has been glued to him ever since. As I was getting dressed, just like I said, Ice was blowing my phone up.
âHello?â I answered.
âWhy you ignoring me, Farrah? Donât think because youâre âround that nigga that I still wonât knock yoâ shit loose,â he snapped.
âI couldnât answer, Ice. It would look suspicious,â I answered.
âSuspicious or not. You need to pick up the phone when I call. Where is my daughter, anyway? I called your mama, and she said she wasnât there.â He still thought Kyandria was with my parents, but I knew I had to bring her here after letting Kyandri know about her.
âSheâs with Kyandriâs mother,â I revealed.
âSheâs where?â he yelled into the phone.
âTerrell, I couldnât just pop up without a legitimate cause. That man was about to kill me until I told him about her. That was the only way that I would be able to stay around,â I explained.
There was silence on the phone, and I just knew that he would be screaming at the top of his lungs at any second.
âYou know what? That might just work in my favor.â
âWhat do you mean?â I asked.
âIt means Iâll use her as bait to get what I want,â he said.
âWait! I didnât agree to involve her in this.â
âToo late. Iâll see yâall in a few weeks.â He hung up the phone before I could even offer up a rebuttal.
