Sitting at the kitchen table of her childhood home with her MacBook Pro open, Yasmin took a sip of her coffee as she finalized the fourth event of the summer. After sorting through the thousands of emails asking for donations and sponsorships for more little league youth programs in the Cobb, Fulton, and Dekalb counties of the Atlanta region, she came up with an idea to organize a three-day tournament with gymnastics, cheer, football, and basketball teams to determine the top three teams who would walk away with a monetary donation of different amounts and a six-month sponsorship for the first-place winner. Every weekend in June, a different tournament would take place and she and Maddox agreed to be in attendance for all of them. In addition to the month-long tournaments, she scheduled two back-to-school bashes and had just received confirmation from a hair salon and barbershop agreeing to do and cut kids’ hair for free between the ages of five and twelve for back to school. Although she and LaKeita were fortunate to not know what it was like to struggle growing up, she wasn’t ignorant of the issues that parents faced trying to provide for their kids.

Saving the paperwork that the owners of the hair salon and barbershop had sent back, one of the infants that she’d spent the weekend caring for started crying. Getting up from the table, she went downstairs to the daycare setting style basement to tend to the ten-month-old baby boy. Smiling at the three neighborhood kids that were still sound asleep, Yasmin picked up the fussy baby and carried him over to the changing table. Taking off his pajama pants, she frowned at the foul smell that was coming from his diaper.

“Lil’ boy, you are too cute to be smelling like a grown man,” she stated, grabbing his diapers, wipes, and outfit from his baby bag.

Removing the rest of the baby’s clothes, she cleaned up the shitty mess before washing him up in the full bathroom the was down there. While singing nursery rhymes to the baby as she cleaned him, his twin sister woke up in a fussy fit as well. Bringing his bath to an end, she wrapped the little cutie pie in a towel, dried him off, got him dressed before passing him off to Mama Rose who’d came down to check on the fussy infant. Yasmin wiped down the changing area with a Lysol wipe. She removed the little girl’s clothes and messy diaper and gave her a bath as well. By the time she finished getting the adorable baby dressed, the other three kids were up, eating cereal at the table. Grabbing the cereal bottle that her grandma prepared for the infant, she sat in the rocking chair, cradling the child as she held her bottle. Looking over at Mama Rose who was smiling at her, she didn’t hesitate to ask what the smile was for.

“Why are you grinning at me, Grandma?”

“I was thinking of the time when I told you and Keita about my plan to offer weekend services to people who needed them.
