• Ask the spectator to shuffle the deck and return it to you. Take it in dealing position in the left hand and tilt it so the faces are toward you.

Step 2

• Begin spreading through the cards, looking for a three- or four-valued spot card near the face of the deck.

• Here you can see the three of clubs is sixth from the face—we’ll use that in this instance.

Step 3

I’m pointing to the king of hearts only for clarity—don’t do this when you perform the trick!

• When you find the three, count back three cards toward the face of the deck and note the card at that number—this will be your predicted card (let’s assume it’s the king of hearts).
