It was almost time for school to start back up and I came in town to take the kids school shopping. Niles told me he wanted all of us to go so we could get stuff for all of them. I was staying with Ambrogio and his wife, until I left.

I wasn’t comfortable being in the house with Niles; especially now that I was seeing someone and evidently, he was too. I guess it wasn’t meant for us to be together.

The kids ran in the house and gave them a hug while I got the bags out. I stepped inside and Kharis was there with her kids and Caleb was sitting next to her. I was shocked she was still with him after what he did, but she said he wasn’t letting her be with anyone else. They both gave me a hug and we sat there talking for what seemed like forever.

“I guess the party’s over here.” I heard but couldn’t see him. When I turned around my heart melted. He still looked good as hell. He came over to give me a hug and his scent lingered in my nose. I was still in love with him but since he never asked me to come back I assumed he didn’t feel the same. He told the kids to get in the truck and told everyone else we would see them later.

“You look good Irina.” Niles said as he closed the door for me. I was jumping up and down in my head but on the outside, I just said thank you.

We shopped all day together with the kids. We took them to eat in the food court and sat down at the table like a family.

“He hits mommy.” I heard Niles junior say and I almost dropped the napkins out my hand. I know he wasn’t asking about the nigga I was with.

“Who hits your mommy?” I guess he didn’t and my son brought it up.

“Her new friend.”

“What do you mean he hits your mommy? I don’t see her allowing anyone to do that to her.” Niles said to him.

“No, she does. If she doesn’t clean the house up before he comes over, he slaps her. If grandma can’t watch us he’ll come over and call her outside and hit her. One time, I saw him try and run her over with his truck but mommy moved just in time. She had to use that mind thing on him so he wouldn’t remember she jumped that high.”

“Hold up. The guy is human that your mom is seeing?”

“I think so.” Fuck! I felt like shit.

I tried my best to keep my relationship away from my kids. Yes, he came over a few times but I made sure the kids were in their rooms asleep. I guess they weren’t. I sat down and looked at Niles. His eyes were growing dark by the second.

“Are you ok Niles?” I didn’t want him to know I heard my son telling.

“Yea daddy are you ok.
