Regaran closed Olive’s door and shuddered. The feel of her skin was enthralling, her scent was hypnotic and the tiny noises she made during healing caused his mind to spiral out imagining the sounds she would make when he was inside her.

He headed for the door, and Ajaru came out of the wing where his bedroom was located. Bex’s scent was all over him.

“How badly was she hurt?”

“Cracked her lower spine, abrasions and bruises. I plan to make Uavros feel something similar during this week’s fights. Maybe a little bit more.” Regaran felt the rage that he had been suppressing while in Olive’s presence.

“Good. He broke every rule of guestship with that move. If you weren’t kicking his ass, I would.” Ajaru flicked his gaze toward Olive’s room. “Is she all right?”

“She is healed, but aside from that, I don’t know. He had his claws out, Ajaru.”

Ajaru cursed. “Did you want to stay here tonight?”

“Sure. I will send my driver back to the arena. Sparring session tomorrow?”

“Of course. It is the least I could do. You know where the guestrooms are. Good night, Reg.”

Regaran watched his friend disappear into the hall that led to the room where his mate was waiting. It filled him with a sense of wistful jealousy until he looked toward Olive’s room. Patience might be a virtue, but when you knew that you had met your match, you wanted to pounce. He only hoped he didn’t manage to scare her off before he won her affections and the rest of her.
