CHAPTER 28

I could marry Jafar’s son. Annabelle let that thought wash away as she showered. She did some of her best thinking in the shower. Thinking and sleeping. She didn’t dare announce that little piece of information in a board meeting. She could just imagine the looks she would get. They’d start implementing plans to have her replaced.

She wouldn’t be so lucky. She could probably make it with Jafar’s deal, but she couldn’t spend millions on a house if she let it drop.

It had been an eventful day. After a bumpy flight, she’d found that Jafar wanted her to marry his son in order to close a business deal. She’d discovered that the house her grandfather had wanted to buy years ago was now for sale. And now that she’d seen the inside of the house, she absolutely loved it.

She’d also discovered that she’d been able to talk to Brandon about her grandfather without going into a panic attack.

And… she’d discovered that she was really crushing on Brandon. A dangerous crush. A crush that could lead to an uncomfortable flight back.

A complicating factor was that she needed him to be her fake fiancé in order to close a deal that would allow her to buy a house she wanted and to protect her family’s interests.

It’s not fair to Brandon. Damn it. What was in it for him?

She couldn’t just ask him to pretend to be her fiancé and give him nothing in return. It wasn’t good business and wasn’t a kind thing to do.

She stepped out of the shower and toweled off. She would have to ask him what he wanted in return. It was the only kind thing to do. She barely knew him, so there was no way she could second guess what he might want in return.

She climbed into bed and imagined what it would be like to be Brandon’s fiancé. Being a fiancé usually involved kissing.

How could she have a fiancé she has never even kissed?
