Jesus said, “As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21). It was the Father, who was perfect, who sent Jesus. Now it’s the Father, through Jesus, who sends us to do what? The same things Jesus did, with the exception of the redemptive role of atonement. That alone belongs to the Lamb of God. But we still have the responsibility to display the Father, and He is good. He’s not without standards; it isn’t that anything goes and He blesses it. No, that’s nonsense. That’s not right, but in my love for God, I have to learn to hate what He hates. And He hates affliction. He hates sin. He hates all these things, but He loves sinners, and He loves the afflicted. So we need to learn to navigate through this life to represent His goodness well.
