Chapter Fourteen

Ding Dong.

“Sis you expecting somebody?” DJ asked, getting up from the sofa. Ever since Reign had been back, they had just been spending time together.

“No.”

“What if it’s Pharaoh? You want me to let him in?” DJ question.

“No.” She answered and then let out a deep sigh. Pharaoh had been stopping by her house and spa only for her to turn him away. It was to the point where Pharaoh would just stay park outside her house some nights.

“DJ, who is it?” Reign asked. She was sitting in her dining room drinking tea and eating some crackers, hoping it would settle her stomach. Her baby had been kicking her butt with morning sickness.

“Ummm… it’s Pharaoh’s mom,” DJ answered his sister as he let Maria inside their house.

“Hey Ms. Maria. How are you? What a pleasant surprise.” Reign got up.

“Stay seated, Reign. I’m sorry to drop by unannounced.”

“No problem. I didn’t know you knew where I live.” Reign voiced, looking around the room. This was awkward in her opinion. She had only met Pharaoh’s mom once. Yet, here she was, standing in her living room.

“Sweetheart, I’m Maria Gonzalez-Black. I can find anyone. I knew your address and life story when I found out you was more than one night of pleasure to Pharaoh,” she stated, making herself comfortable on Reign’s sofa.

Reign wanted to say some slick shit out of her mouth, like, where was her detective ass when her crazy ass nephew kidnapped her. However, since she looked like she was on her Griselda Blanco shit, she kept her comments to herself.

“Ms. Maria, how may I help you?”

“Call me Mama Maria. We’re not strangers. You’re practically my daughter-in-law.”

“Sorry. I haven’t called anyone mother since mine was murdered in front of me.”

“Reign, I didn’t mean to offend you,” Maria sincerely said with apologetic eyes.

“None taken. I just didn’t want you to be offended when I still call you Ms. Maria. But, what brings you by?”

“I came to personally apologize about what happened to you. That will never happen again because you are now protected by the Black and Gonzalez family. You now have 24/7 security protecting you and your brother. Also, I came by to check up on you and invite you to Sunday dinner. With all of the craziness going on, things are finally starting to calm down and I think it’s a great time to come together.”

“Mrs. Black, I’m not sure if Pharaoh told you or not, but we are no longer together.”

“I know of this break yall call yourselves taking.”

“It’s not a so-called break. I will no longer be a part of his life.”

“Don’t do that little girl. You’ll always be a part of Pharaoh’s life as long as you’re carrying his child. When raising my grandson or granddaughter, you will always be a part of his and all of our lives.” Maria set Reign straight. She didn’t know what type of time Reign thought she was about to be on, but she was in for one rude of awakening.
