Genesis

Everyone said she was crazy, but actually, Genesis was quite sane. So sane, she was often misunderstood. While some people allowed others to get away with causing them grief and pain, anger and frustration, Genesis demanded vengeance. And when people treated her kindly and gave her love and respect, Genesis gave that back tenfold.

Unfortunately, there was a thin love between love and hate, and she straddled that line with her ex-husband almost every day of her life. Some days, Remi filled her with so much love and passion, it didn’t matter if they were divorced or not. His actions proved he was dedicated and committed to her above all. Other days, Remi filled her with so much pain and turmoil, Genesis believed he didn’t care about her at all.

For the past two years, almost, she’d literally been at war with him, her heart, and her mind. Now… Genesis had reached her breaking point.

Remi had paid her bond before she was finished being processed. Both he and Rameek were waiting for her once she was released. She thanked Rameek but had no words for her ex-husband. He didn’t seem to care that she was giving him the silent treatment or that she wanted Rameek to take her home. Remi followed behind, following her up to her apartment as well. Genesis wanted to tell him to go home, but she was too tired for the argument that would follow.

For whatever reason, Remi deemed it necessary to find out what had caused her to vandalize Black’s car, and there was a really good chance he wouldn’t leave until she told him.

“My grandfather is probably sleep, so please don’t come in here making a lot of noise.”

“Okay,” he agreed, shoving his hands into his pockets. “Or we can just go to my place.”

Turning, Genesis faced him… the man she knew would be her forever lover at the age of fourteen. He was twice as handsome now as he was back then, with twice as much of a hold on her heart, too. Of all the things that could be said about Remi Mayhem, denying him of his love toward Genesis was not it. The problem, however, was receiving that love the way Remi wanted to give it… not the way Genesis wanted to receive it.

With a tired sigh, she scratched the side of her eye as Remi continued.

“I got some of your tea there.” Genesis gritted her teeth to keep from smiling. “You can take a nice hot bath in my tub. I know you miss that shit.” Her eyes closed as she inhaled a deep breath. He was right—she did miss his tub. It was deep and wide. Just as wide as an outside jacuzzi. Genesis loved water in any form. It always helped her relax, talk to God, and feel refreshed. “If you don’t want to talk, we don’t have to until the sun comes up.”

“Fine. We might as well get this over with. Let me pack a bag and I’ll go to work from your place.
