Test Your Equipment Before Your First Call, and In-Between Calls!

I am surprised by how many people do not explore and test their video equipment before their calls. I have seen many calls where attendees spend the first 10 minutes trying to figure out the technology. It doesn’t have to be that way.

People who have never experienced a fault with their video equipment will forget to consider that preparation and testing is one of the keys to success. It is always important to routinely test your video gear to make sure that it is working well. Faults can develop without much warning, and in some cases, there may be no warning until just before call time that your camera isn’t working or your bandwidth is overloaded. This may mean that you will be caught with suboptimal video equipment at the start of a video conference, and this can really impact on the overall experience.
