Xa’Naj woke up the following morning and immediately panicked. The first thing she noticed was that she was in Nando’s bed. She lifted the covers and saw that he was shirtless, but he had on a pair of boxers. While ignoring the fact that his body was on point, she quickly hopped out the bed and searched for her clothes. She couldn’t remember how she ended up in one of Nando’s t-shirts.

“Leaving me already?”

Xa’Naj was startled by Nando’s voice. She ignored him and continued searching for her clothes which were nowhere to be found.

“Your clothes were being washed but they should be ready by now.”

“Well, go get them so I can leave.”

“What’s wrong, Xa’Naj? I thought we had a good night?”

“I don’t remember half the shit that happened last night and I’m sure I don’t want to.”

“We didn’t have sex just in case you were wondering.”

Xa’Naj released a breath of relief. “Good.”

Nando smirked and got out the bed as well. He took his time searching for his shirt, knowing Xa’Naj would enjoy the view of his chiseled abs. Finally he found it and pulled it over his head. “I’ll be right back with your clothes.”

Xa’Naj didn’t respond to him. The minute he left, she began searching for her phone. She spotted it near the foot of the bed and quickly grabbed it. She cursed inwardly when she realized that it was dead. Then it also hit her that today was Henni’s baby shower. Xa’Naj was in no mood to attend, but she knew her presence was expected.

She planned on just stopping by to show her face and drop off her gift. Afterward, she was out the door. She looked up when Nando came back into the room with her clothes in his hands. He sat them next to her and she wasted no time getting dressed.

“When am I gonna see you again?”

“Nando, listen,” Xa’Naj began as she slipped into her skirt. “I’m not fucking with you like that. Last night I was just tripping hard over my breakup with Key and I needed to take my mind off of it.”

Nando just nodded. “No pressure, Xa’Naj. Just know I’ll be here whenever you do decide to come back.”

Xa’Naj was now fully clothed. She grabbed her phone and stepped into her heels. “Bye, Nando,” was all she said as she left his room.

She expected him to come after her, or at least call her name, however he did neither. She brushed the thought off as she headed to the elevator. When the doors opened, she was surprised to see Riyaz. She didn’t think he would ever show his face. She waited for him to say something as she stepped inside the elevator; but Riyaz was on mute like always.

Xa’Naj couldn’t help but stare at him, wondering what the hell his deal was. He was cool and laid back, but sometimes his silence was aggravating. The least he could do was say Hi. She studied the expression on his face and couldn’t tell if he was angry or not.
