Chapter Fifteen

JORDAN

A month later

“T hank you for bringing her home, ma.” I grabbed Arianna out the car seat, then grabbed a bag of mail that my mom had been collecting for the last couple weeks. She had been telling me to come get it, but I've been putting off, due to me being so damn busy. Dropoffs were going so smooth because I trusted Benny to be a part of them. He would pick Arianna up or drop her off when I had to be to work early.

“So, it’s official. This is home?” She asked, looking from me to the car seat.

“Yes!” I nodded. Benny and I had made things official on the strength that we really were vibing. I could honestly say I was getting to the point of loving him. We were already living together. Why not just make things official? I would move in here and help out where I can. Per Benny’s request, I was only to buy food and the house stuff, everything else he paid for. Benny made it clear that he was the man, and he would provide a roof and shelter. I kept telling him that I needed to help. That’s when he suggested buying the groceries and household needs. It wasn’t satisfying, but I knew there was no arguing with that man.

“Okay. You’re grown, so I won’t say anything.” I knew my mom and others would say a lot, but I didn’t care. I've known Benny over five years, and he’s never once disrespected me or did anything to make me side eye him. She of course thought we were moving fast, but they didn’t really know us. I couldn’t explain shit because there was nothing to explain.

“Thank you. Love you.” I blew her a kiss, closing the door. I jogged up the walkway back into the house. My baby girl was getting so big and was now almost eight months. I really couldn’t believe I had been a mom for eight months. The uphill battle was definitely one for the record. Getting back in the house, I laid out her play mat, letting her crawl and play with her toys. Sitting down next to her, I dumped out the mail to go through it. I separated my bills, junk, and everything else. Combing through the mail, I saw a couple letters from Daymond, which shocked the hell out of me. I didn’t know he had written to me. I thought all communication had to be seized once the protection order was sent out. I took a deep breath and ripped open the letters, reading from the day he sent them.
