Chapter Six

Willow

“Woah!” I hear Lillian say as she gets up from the couch then sways, before falling to the ground. I jump up from where I’m sitting, and reach her as she’s going down. I’m able to grab her before she hits her head.

She looks up at me with wide terrified eyes and shakes her head. I scan the room, but everyone is outside. Shit. “Easy does it, momma,” I say, putting my arm around her back and helping her sit up. “Everything’s going to be okay.”

I scan the room again hoping to somehow get someone’s attention without freaking Lillian out. I’m about to scream for them to come back inside when my mom walks into the living room from the kitchen. She rushes over immediately and kneels at Lillian’s side.

“Oh, sweetie,” Mom says in a motherly tone she’s perfected after all these years. “What happened?”

“I just got lightheaded all of a sudden.”

“Did you eat enough today?” She asks, helping me get Lillian over to the couch.

I leave Lillian with my mom and find Hannah outback sitting with Jackson on a porch swing. “Where the hell is Jameson?”

“I’m sure he’s around here somewhere. He wouldn’t leave Lillian’s side for long. Why? What’s wrong?”

Just then Jameson comes walking around the front of the house with his mom and dad. I let out a loud whistle grabbing his and everyone else’s attention.

Jameson doesn’t stop to ask what’s wrong. He runs past us into the house.

“What’s going on?” Hannah asks.

“Lillian was lightheaded and almost passed out when she got up from the couch.”

“Why didn’t you lead with that?” Hannah huffs, running into the house with me on her heels.

By the time we make it back inside, Lillian’s in her bedroom with Jameson sitting at her side, stroking her face affectionately. You can tell by his very action just how much Lillian means to him. That’s fated mates for you. Hannah rushes in but holds back when she notices Jameson and Lillian are having a moment.

I start backing out of the room to give them some privacy when Lillian locks eyes with me. “Willow,” she calls, holding out her other hand. I walk to her side and hold her hand.

“Thank you for being there. I don’t know what would have happened if you weren’t.”

“Yes, thank you, Willow. I know you’re Hudson’s mate, but even if you weren’t we’d still consider you family around here. You saved my mate. I know I don’t have to say it, but that’s a big deal to me,” Jameson offers.

“It was nothing, really,” I smile.

A little while later I leave Jameson and Hannah in the bedroom to look after Lillian. Turns out she didn’t have enough to eat or drink today, which at this point in her pregnancy is a big no-no. Jameson thinks she’s dehydrated and has her guzzling water and eating a few sandwiches to get her strength back. Lillian cracked me up with how she was reacting to her mate and best friend fussing over her. She kept rolling her eyes but doing as they said.
