I Can See the Future

Although constant repetition is a large part of affirmations, the subconscious also responds well to a positive image. This is where the technique called visualization comes in. Visualization increases the rate at which your subconscious absorbs the affirmations’ messages, and it works even better if you can visualize while you are relaxed. Visualization is simply envisioning yourself after you have achieved your goal. See yourself being assertive, getting your way in a discussion, and feeling good about it. See yourself balancing your checkbook on a weekly basis, confident that you are in control of your finances.

One of the best times to practice visualization is right before you go to sleep. You are already unwinding after the day’s events, and you can use that time to envision what you will be doing when you achieve your goal. It is a pleasant way to fall asleep. You can also designate time each week to devote to visualization. Pick an area that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable. You might have a favorite easy chair, or you can stretch out on the sofa or lie down on your bed. Taking a long, hot bath is a good option, too. Then put on soft, relaxing music, start relaxing, and visualize yourself in the future. If you recorded your affirmations, you can also break out a speaker system and set your mp3 player to continually repeat your affirmations as you relax.

Visualization has an added bonus for people who are suffering from heartbreak. It offers a built-in retreat and gives you time to indulge yourself when you feel exhausted. Plus, you are not retreating or taking a break from reality when you visualize — you are confronting it and making sure you get the reality you deserve.
