Figure 9. Two player system momentum

The final velocity of the system (both objects) will be zero, because the players are stationary after colliding. The result is that the force of impact is the force of the system over the collision time, which becomes:

Here again, the minus sign indicates that the force is in opposition to the direction of motion. As you can see here, the impact force is almost 6 Gs, which is 2x the first scenario!

To understand the significance of that number, consider these examples: A Bugatti Veyron, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, has a g-force of merely 1.18, and Maxx Force at Six Flags Great America, the fastest roller coaster in 2019, has an estimated g-force of 4.5. In 2018, a Russian Soyuz rocket malfunctioned shortly after launch; its uncontrolled free fall subjected the two crew members to 7 Gs. 29 Cornering in a Formula One car can sometimes put drivers through nearly 8 Gs of lateral acceleration, 30 and highly skilled jet pilots can get to 10 Gs in .03 seconds. 31 G-forces this high can cause loss of consciousness.
