"Can I get anyone anything else to drink? Coffee or tea?" Bruce asked, coming out to the patio with a tray of sandwiches and a large pitcher of juice. It was early Saturday afternoon.

Jessica shook her head, marveling. "Your parents should go away more often, Bruce. You're turning into an independent bachelor right before our eyes!"

Bruce looked sheepish. "Actually, Maria left the sandwiches out," he admitted. Maria was the Patmans' cook. Everyone laughed, and the tension that had settled over the four eased somewhat.

"OK," Bruce said, setting the tray and the pitcher on the table, then sitting down. "First things first. We've got to come up with the very best plan for a simultaneous rescue. But to do that, we need to figure out when Denson's planning on stealing the prototype chip. Liz, have you got Regina's note?"

Elizabeth nodded and passed him the piece of paper. It had been read and reread so many times by now that it was practically falling to pieces.

"Read the paragraph again about overhearing Claire talking about taking Regina to the plant," Nicholas suggested. "The part where she says the 'money is heaven' stuff."

"OK," Elizabeth said. "Now, listen really carefully, you guys. If we could figure out what she means by this, I think we'd have it cracked." Taking a deep breath, Elizabeth read the paragraph aloud.
