“I’m sorry lil mama, I can’t let you get stung you gotta come back over here.” I said to Aleya, Zoey’s daughter.

We wanted to get out of the house today, so I took them to one of the biggest parks in the city. Her daughter was really having a good time running around playing and walking with us down the trail past the water. It’s crazy because Zoey is still not used to me wanting to be near her daughter and treating them as a whole. She really has come in contact with some fuck niggas obviously. Whenever I recommend us all go out she looks at me funny. Every time she ends up asking me, are you sure you’re OK with this? Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because she doesn’t want to bring her daughter around; she knows that her daughter is important. She said that she didn’t want me thinking that I was pushing her daughter off on me as a priority. She didn’t want me to feel as though I had to take care of her when I know she’s not my kid. But what type of guy would I be if I just wanted to date her and not her daughter? What kind of guy would I be if I was only interested in her? When a woman has children you have to accept them as a whole. So I’m not about to sit here and only be interested in taking her mom out when I know damn well If we get serious her daughter has to be a part of the picture.

Her kid is cute, though. She is hardly any trouble at all, and she doesn’t cry a lot like some babies. Right now, she is throwing a fit because I wouldn’t let her run away to go play behind the butterflies. But there are also some bees over there and I didn’t want her to get stung. I got stung as a kid and I know that shit is annoying. And it hurt. I’m a grown man right now and I don’t want them bastards to sting me. I picked her up and swung her around in the air trying to get her mind off of it. Not even a minute later she was laughing and giggling. Zoey had stepped away to answer the phone for her mother and now she had walked up watching us. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw her smiling.

“What are you smiling at? You want me to pick you up and swing you around too huh?” I asked playfully.

“Boy no! I was just watching you two. It’s so crazy because she’s normally not this open with people.”

“I’m not your average person. She can pick up on real that’s all. Pointing that shit out already!”

“Oh shut up! No seriously I really appreciate what you do for us.”

“What are you talking about I don’t do anything.”

“You know what I mean. You take us out to eat. You buy us things sometimes when we don’t even ask for it.
