Anight out on the town was exactly what Leerah needed. When Nae hit her up, wanting to check out a new hookah lounge, she readily accepted the invite. Then, she called Sovanna so she could go as well. At thirty-two, Leerah had partied and clubbed enough to enjoy only being on the scene a few days out of the month. If she was, it was a laidback spot like Elite where the vibes were grown and the crowd behaved.

When they arrived, Nae told them it was an exclusive, members-only hookah lounge that was invite-only. Depending on the invitee, determined the number of guests you could bring with you, then you could sign up to become one. Nae invited them and her sister, Toni. Leerah loved that it wasn’t too bougie, the drinks were good and strong, the DJ was spinning straight jams, and the patrons were enjoying themselves.

Leerah snapped her fingers and swayed sensually to the sounds of Bae by Skilla Baby. Cutely, she blew smoke from her gold mouth tip. The peach-watermelon flavor wasn’t overpowering, and it tasted good, but she still had to adjust to it with each pull. She was used to puffing on her tobacco and nicotine-free hookah pens from Blakk Smoke.

“This your song, friend?” Sovanna asked, smirking.

“Mhm. You know I’m a bad bitch. Classy nails, French tip,” she rapped, wiggling her French tip nails that matched her toes.

Leerah kept it cute and simple for the evening, wearing a short-sleeved denim dress that cinched at the waist and silver high-heel sandals. She’d been receiving compliments from men and women all night. Switching her hairstyle up, she flat ironed her curls but kept her signature part down the middle.

“Anybody want another drink?” Toni asked.

Leerah nodded while Sovanna and Nae declined for now. They had a few shots in the car before they came in and were mellow.

“Yeah. I’ll come with you to the bar,” Leerah said, standing up.

She tugged her dress down and grabbed her purse off the faux leather bench. Following Toni’s short frame, Leerah admired her waist-length sandy brown sister locs. Thanks to her mama, she’d been growing them since she was a preteen, and she loved them.

“Y’all looking real good tonight, ladies,” a handsome man complimented as they approached the bar.

He stood beside Leerah, adjusting the heavy chain around his neck. She looked him over, surmising that he wasn’t her type without much thought. Still, she thanked him because she wasn’t rude.

“Thank you.”

“What you drinking on tonight?” he asked.

She eyed the drink menu, faking like she had no clue. “Haven’t decided yet.”

“A’ight. When you do, it’s on me.”

“The drinks come with the membership, sweetie,” Toni leaned over and said.

A wave of embarrassment washed over him. Chuckling, he played it off. “Damn. I didn’t know that. This my first time here,” he offered. “Good looking out.”

Toni smiled. “No problem.”

A bartender approached, ready to take their orders. “Hi. What can I get for you?” she asked.
