Day 50

We are therefore Christ’s ambassador, as though God were making his appeal through us.

2 Corinthians 5:20

Play Book Assignment: Read 2 Corinthians 5:18–21

Know Any Atheists?

You probably aren’t supposed to call people names. Especially a name like “fool.”

But God did.

He said, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God'” (Psalm 14:1).

That’s pretty harsh. But of course, it’s God talking, and you could see why he’d say that.

Imagine your name is Jasmine, and your teacher looked at your name on her grade sheet and said, “There’s no Jasmine. Jasmine doesn’t exist.” You’d probably think your teacher was a fool.

There are people, though, and probably some kids you know, who don’t think God exists. So, what do you do with them?

You care for them. You show them some love. You help them whenever you can.

That’s what happened in Dana Lau’s life.

Now, unless you’re her cousin, you’ve probably never heard of Dana Lau. She played college basketball for Northern Illinois University in the mid-nineties. When she arrived on campus at NIU, she was an atheist. She simply did not believe in God.

Little by little, though, the influence of some Christian teammates and a coach got her attention. She noticed that these people were different and that they cared.

When Dana started having problems, she turned to her Christian friends. It wasn’t long before their love for Dana convinced her that God existed, and she became a Christian.

That’s what we’re supposed to do. That’s what it means to be an ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20). We are supposed to represent God to the people we know. By showing them what love is all about, we can show them what God is all about.

Know anybody who doesn’t believe? Instead of treating that person like a bad person, do things for him or her. Be kind. Be a good example.

Before you know it, they’ll be asking, “What’s with you?” Then you can tell them about God.

On the Chalkboard

Some people will never look for God if they don’t see him in you.
