HAWK

He hadn’t planned on telling Ellie his entire life story. But when she ran her fingers along his scars, he knew he needed to tell her in hopes she would understand why he was the way he was. It had been both emotionally freeing and also exhausting going through his past but in the end, he was glad he did because he wanted her to know he would always be honest with her when she asked a question.

There was also the fact that while he’d told her about his childhood, he hadn’t told her about why Celeste was killed or what he and his brothers did after it happened. He would have to tell her at some point, but he didn’t want to ruin the moment they were having. Even though he knew her pussy was wet and his cock was definitely hard, the intimacy he was feeling with her right then had nothing to do with sex and everything to do with baring their souls to each other.

When she told him about being insecure and that she had trauma from her previous relationships, it had been difficult not to demand names. It didn’t matter how long it had been since they’d hurt his Little girl, he still wanted to hurt those people. She was his and even though they’d just declared what their dynamic would be, he already knew that her name was being forever etched in his heart. There would never be anyone else for him. She was it and if it came down to her or the work he did in the shadows, he would choose her. He would live the rest of his life on the straight and narrow if that was what she wanted. As much as he’d loved getting revenge on Celeste’s murderers and Addie’s ex-boyfriend and the people who had invaded Beau’s house and all the other things he’d done to help innocent people and animals over the years, he was also okay with walking away and being satisfied with the service he’d provided in all that time. He also knew his brothers would support him if he made that decision.

He was unsure how she would feel about it all when he did finally tell her. After all, when she’d volunteered to take the job with Beau’s rescue, she had to sign an agreement with Beau that she was aware her job of saving those dogs was being done under the police radar and she was agreeing to keep the work she did for them completely private. So, it wasn’t like she was completely against sidestepping the law for the greater good. He just didn’t know if she would be able to overlook how much he and his brothers sidestepped it. There was a big difference between helping rescue fighting dogs and hunting down and killing people in order to save or protect innocent women, children, or animals.

Her fingertips moved on his chest, bringing him back to the moment. She was staring up at him and he could feel his entire body relax as he looked down at her.
