Chapter Ten

“What are you doing here?” James angrily asked the moment he saw the figure filling his thoughts. Samantha rolled her eyes, realizing that his statement was the most common line he’d used with her.

“It’s 9:45. I see you’ve fixed your timeliness. I am proud.” Samantha smiled. She settled her belongings on the seat next to her, removing the black coat that covered her suit.

“I have a meeting to deal with. I do not have time to deal with your immaturity.”

James looked at her. She was not wearing the same dress she’d had on when she barged into his house that morning.

“Look who’s being childish,” she chuckled, taking her seat right across from him in the boardroom. Samantha pulled out a brown folder, pushing it in James’ direction.

“What is that?” He scowled. His eyes traveled to the plump lips he’d sampled that morning.

“I am here for Green Industries, you idiot.” She was furious seeing James act as cold as ice after their kiss. It had been just one kiss, but it’d flared something inside her.

“You must be from a very prominent family being able to get into a company like this one.” James narrowed his eyes at her.

Samantha gave him a smirk. She was looking forward to seeing his reaction when he learned who she really was. As if on cue, they heard a knocking on the door.

“Miss Green, you came very early. I am very sorry for being late.” Her assistant, Kathy, walked inside the spacious room with an attaché case.

“It’s fine Kathy, I had to see an old friend first.” She giggled. “So, shall we start?” She cleared her throat, studying the expression on James’ face.

“I see you’ve married an old man—one who passed away awhile ago I must have miscalculated your abilities.” He said coldly. There was a glint of disbelief in his eyes.

“Excuse me?”

“You were a mere assistant in this building. The next thing I know, you are an heir to a company like Green’s.” He whistled, his every word insulting every vein she had.

She gritted her teeth in anger. God knew how much she wanted to strangle his precious neck.

“I am the rightful heir of this company. I am Samantha Hagan Green, the only child of the late Edward Green and Samara Maria Hagan. Now, this is a business meeting; a business attitude is a must in this. You don’t want to lose this account, do you?” She raised her brows, biting her lip and trying hard not to laugh. She was pushing it but it felt good.

James’ face stern, he clenched his teeth. “Please explain the project, Ms. Green.”
